ball πΈ prologue
And so we begin our trek into an event story... A Hundred Flowers Blossoming * An Evening's Ball! Better known as just "Ball," according to story chapters. Many thanks to both of my proofers,
manbouwords and
amagiiz, for their hard work! γγγγο½

Sumire: Pardon me.
My apologies for my late arrival.
Today, I considered possibly working with plaster, and thus I had to research how to do just that.
I gradually became absorbed by the subject matter, and lost sight of my objective... Oh?

Natsumi: Hmmmmmmmmmmrrrrgh...!
Bam~! Hyaaah~! Take that~!
Sumire: Oh! The usually gentle Minami-senpai has gone wild!
She certainly must have been struck by the urge to create! There's no doubt about it!
As a newbie, I still haven't managed to reach the same level as her, so all I can do is cheer her on!
You can do it, Senpai! Fight on, Senpai!
Natsumi: Um, Sumire-chan. I need to concentrate right now, so would you mind staying quiet?
Sumire: Oh...? She scolded me. I'm perplexed.
But as she's my senior, there must certainly be a deeper meaning to it!

Momo: Gosh, you guys are so noisy~
Sumire: My, how unusual. Saeki-senpai, you came as well?
Momo: I've been here~? Or more like, I've been skipping class today in the fine arts room since this morning. Deh heh heh βͺ
Natsumi: Sorry, Momo-chan. I asked for your help, but I ended up taking over everything, didn't I?
Momo: It's totally fine. You're always doing something-or-other on your own, Nattsun, so I'd love it if you could rely on me every once in a while.
You come here too, Sumire. Let's make something reeeally fun together~βͺ
Sumire: Sigh. Anyway, just what are you doing, Senpai?
Just by looking, I can see you've made quite a lot of Western-style clothing... There's a whole pile of them... What in the world are these all for?
Ah-ha, are you going to make some sort of avant-garde Western clothing piece by tying them all together?
Would you caption it something like, "Trendy Hell"?
As expected of you - a blockhead like myself would never be able to come up with such an idea...β
Natsumi: Youβre always giving it your all, Sumire-chan.
That's not it though. At first, I was just asked by an acquaintance to make a dress, but I started having a lot of fun along the way...
Gothic Lolita, Sweet Lolita, Princess-kei...
I made a lot of different kinds.
When I finally noticed, I'd made enough for every student in school.
There were just so many of them - I didn't know what to do, but...
Then the Student Council President was like, "In that case, let's just hold a dance party!"
"We'll distribute the dresses free-of-charge to anyone who comes, and we'll just let them take them home at the end!"
"It'll work out!" ... And here we are.
Sumire: Ah, so you'd just have to deliver this clothing to those participating in this event.
Then all your hard work wouldn't go to waste... I believe it's a good idea.
Natsumi: Yeah. But you know, when it comes down to it, I'm a little picky about the details.
Some of them are coming apart at the seams, or their measurements are off, and it feels like the repairs are never-ending...
There's not a lot of time left before the dance, so I'm in a rush to fix them before then.
That's why I asked Momo-chan if she could help out.
Momo: If you go dancing in something half-assed, then it's a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen!
You're pretty dexterous, but you missed the fine details on the finishing touches, huh~?
Natsumi: Ugh. I hear you loud and clear, jack of all trades, master of none.
I should be able to do it if I just focus, but I'm bad at that kind of thing.
Momo: Everyone's got somethin' they're good and not-so-good at~. Like, you know how I'm always bangin' out a new piece by the hour?
Despite that, I still can't turn in stuff on time.
Sumire: Oooh, my seniors are holding such a high-level, artistic conversation!
I'd like to participate in such a thing with them one day as well...βͺ
Attention, seniors! Though unworthy as I am, please allow me, Sumire Kijishi, to offer my assistance!
Natsumi: Sure, you're really saving my hide here.
I'm soooo thankful! I love you guys βͺ
Ah, Sumire-chan - please don't touch that Gothic Lolita outfit. It's not for the dance.
That one's a present for an acquaintance of mine.
Sumire: Ah-ha, so you made this one before the rest of them?
Natsumi: Yep. There's a girl in the first year who likes that kinda thing - I became acquainted with her in an unexpected turn of events.
She's the one who asked me to make it.
Sumire: A first year... That would make us the same age. So this girl's into Gothic Lolita fashion?
Natsumi: Ahaha... I've been forbidden to say who it is - she's entitled to her privacy, right?
(...I hope you like it, Yuki-chan.)
